DUNGEON-LORD: BASIC CHARACTER RECORDS - Latest Upload - Monday, 5-28-18

DL_CRS_v1.pdf is the lastest uploaded pdf offered.

Updated Games Rules as of 5-28-18.

- FIGHTERS and CLERICS: The buckler shoulder-strap mechanic has been eliminated. It's just too easy to recieve extra ACR with magical items. This also places more value on the magical item to the player.

- A new mechanic for ABILITY CHECKS and ROGUE ABILITY CHECKS has been implemented. You now may only attempt the ABILITY/ROGUE ABILITY CHECKS as many extra times as your ADJs allow. A strong mechanic that folds-in on the characters Ability Scores. The previous mechanic penalized the character needlessly. THIEVES still receive ADVANTAGE on their first attempt IF they belong to a certified guild.

This should be the last update for the Dungeon-Lord Player's Handbook before offering printed materials.

We apologize for any inconvenience this update may cause for you and your players.

UPDATE NOTES:

In an effort to continually better the game, when necessary, we will release updates like this when the rules are updated and as well as provide you with the details of the updates. Ultimately, printed formats are going to be available. Any necessary changes that must take place, ideally, must be in place before hand.

These changes are game balance issues that incorporate updated Armour Rules and updated Rogue Ability Check Rules.

These rules are now updated within this new download of The Dungeon-Lord Basic Player's Handbook (download Dungeon-Lord_PHB_v1.pdf) and are described below:

 - you now may only strap 1 Buckler to a shoulder for a +1ACR boost. Wether your a 2-hander or a Shielded FIGHTER/CLERIC. There are other ways in the game to obtain an ACR boost. Such as a magical piece of Armour or from a magical shield, etc. We may eventually nerf this Buckler mechanic altogether before we offer printed material. It's still being toiled over.

 - you now must have at least 13STR and at least 13DEX to wear Platemail Armour

 - 2-handers now receive a -1 PARRY ADJ. The logic is 2-handers do not have their bodies covered with as much Armour as a Shielded FIGHTER. This ADJ is a reflection of the difference between the two fighting styles.

 - THIEVES now only receive ADVANTAGE on their first attempt at a ROGUE ABILITY CHECK. The THIEF still must belong to a certified guild to receive this bonus. The THIEF's first adventure is still 'free' from dues.

 - ALL CLASSES: Your ROGUE ABILITY SCORE now diminishes -05% with each repeat ROGUE ABILITY attempt. EX: on your second attempt, you perform at -05% of your original score. 3rd attempt -10%. 4th attempt at -15% and so on, until you simply no longer have the chance to perform that ROGUE ABILITY CHECK. This is a logical mechanic/alternative to have in place to prevent the eternal "ROGUE ABILITY CHECK until it succeeds" loop.

 - TIN in the Random Ingot Table (ordered by hardness) has been replaced by NICKEL. Done so for obvious reasons...

 - Minimal text corrections/edits.

The pre-rolled characters in The Dungeon-Lord Basic Character Records packet are being updated to reflect these new rules as well.

Please feel free to post ideas and or comments about these changes and more on the products' page, under the description.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and your players.

DUNGEON-LORD© is a rules-lite, fantasy role-playing game that attempts to bridge a gap between prep time and play time via distilling its content in the way it is presented to the player. The goal is to set the player into the dungeon adventure as quickly as possible. Specifically aiming at those short nights, when there never seems to be enough time for a good game – all the while, attempting to sacrifice little in the details of story scenario.
Players should listen carefully to the background details. As clues, rumors and spook stories may help them before the end of their dungeon crawl.
Play begins, when you open the dungeon door...
